'Stupidly windy' blizzard conditions persist, closing some N.L. schools

Weather alerts remain in effect Monday morning after a week of mixed stormy weather, knocking out power and closing some schools in the western part of Newfoundland. Corner Brook and Stephenville schools have closed for the full day due to weather conditions, while other schools in the western, central and Avalon regions are closed for the morning. Newfoundland Power is continuing to work on restoring power in the Stephenville and Port aux Basques area, citing severe weather conditions as the cause for the outages. And they've been stupidly windy there for the last 36, 48 hours," says Justin Boudreau, a meteorologist with Environment Canada's Gander weather office. #nlwx pic.twitter.com/XFuvW1EVKt —@SeanLyallWinds will gust between 100 and 120 km/h in the Port aux Basques area through much of Monday.
