According to a landmark study carried out in Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and South Africa, a novel approach known as E-motive may significantly reduce mortality caused by childbirth-related bleeding. Childbirth-related bleeding, also known as postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), is deemed responsible for 30% to 50% of infant deaths in Africa. Effective solutions to tackle postpartum bleeding need to be available and accessible so that all women can experience a safe birth and a healthy future with their families. "Time is of the essence when responding to postpartum bleeding, so interventions that eliminate delays in diagnosis or treatment should be game changers for maternal health," she said.
