The government took over the school, which had previously been a private institution, about a year-and-a-half ago, students said. But it is still collecting the same tuition fees as it did when it was a private institution, they said. The protest is aimed at fixing this irregularity. The Shyampur Government Model School and College administration has not issued a statement on the protests.
