Authorities said 23-year-old Zannatul Ferdous was a third-year Chemistry student. She was a resident of room 201 of the Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall. The body was found hanging from a ceiling fan of the reading room on Thursday morning, said Hall Superintendent Ferdousi Begum. Several students said Ferdous was involved with the college unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the Awami League's student front. Police are yet to say whether it was a suicide or a homicide.
