The catch is that student credit cards have essentially the same requirements as regular credit cards: The federal Credit Card Act of 2009 mandates that you must be 21 or have a full-time income to get approved. Since then, changes to federal law have sharply restricted students' credit access, making so-called student cards an option for fewer and fewer students. 3.Find them a secured credit card: These cards require a security deposit, usually equal to the total credit limit. The tightened rules mean most college students can't qualify for student cards on their own.
