Broad has had a scan which showed there is no serious damage Reuters/Andrew BoyersStuart Broad opened the bowling for England in West Indies’ second innings at Lord’s despite concerns about the pain he has been experiencing in his heel. Broad has suffered from bruising of the heel on a number of occasions after first damaging the fat pad on his left heel in India in 2012. He bowled 12 overs from the Nursery End yesterday but looked far from his best, conceding 24 runs and not taking a wicket. The pre-existing condition was exacerbated when Broad slipped on the stairs of the Lord’s Pavilion, bashing his heel on the metal plates at the edge of the steps. He left the field during the second half of West Indies’ first innings and did not bowl again.
