Against Los Angeles in his most recent start, Smith let in the first goal on the game’s first shot, allowing Tyler Toffoli to beat him with a Grade B scoring chance shot. Oilers coach Dave Tippett went so far as to pull Smith from the game, replacing him with Koskinen. Smith has just six wins in 13 game starts, with a .910 save percentage and a 19th overall ranking. Should that be Tippet’s main consideration in deciding who should start right now?
