KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The weatherman has warned of strong north-easterly winds and rough seas in the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, eastern Johor, Sarawak and Sabah up to Tuesday (Dec 18). The Malaysian Meteorological Department said that the winds could reach speeds of 40km to 50km per hour and the waves could rise as high as 3.5 metres. It said in a statement on Sunday (Dec 16) that a similar situation was anticipated in the waters of Tioman, southern Condore, Bunguran, southern Reef North, Layang-Layang, Reef South, Labuan and Palawan. The department also said that strong north-easterly winds of 50km to 60km per hour and waves as high as 4.5 metres were expected to occur in the waters of Samui, northern Condore and northern Reef North up to Tuesday. This condition was dangerous for all shipping and coastal activities, including fishing and ferry services, it added.
