If you are saying that racism, as part of the nine protected characteristics, is a hate crime, then hate crime needs to be addressed and to be severely punished. We are doing the work in the field, but this needs to be top-down and I personally think that a strong message needs to be sent out. ‘When I was at school the Windrush Generation wasn’t mentioned and our history has been hidden.
