Strong earthquake strikes in Marlborough123RF A strong earthquake hit Marlborough at 12.45pm on Monday. Cafe worker Marlene Jackson said three customers were in the cafe when the earthquake hit. A magnitude 4.6 earthquake has rocked Marlborough. Seddon School principal Tania Pringle said she was in her office when the quake hit. Some school pupils were laughing after the quake hit as they had been practising evacuation procedures earlier that morning, she said.
