So my diagnosis was a confirmation of what I already knew in my own mind – that I did have breast cancer. I didn’t know that it was OK to stay flat because I wasn’t given that option. At every check up, I asked my surgeon to remove my healthy breast so that I could be symmetrical. I didn’t know what I’d look like completely flat, or whether I’d be able to accept my new body.
