It seems like everyone I talk to about a new job wants to work totally remote or, at the very least, hybrid. As with most tech workers, Sally packed up her laptop and even her desktop equipment and headed home to her rented apartment. Heck, why not work remote from Boise … or the Bahamas? The article quoted some upper-level managers who said it’s easier to lay off remote staff than locals, because they don’t have a close relationship with other remote workers. One large Midwest company now insists that all employees must be in the office at least one week a month.
