Striking Cameroonians are cut offFrom ROSY SADOU in Yaoundé, CameroonYAOUNDE, (CAJ News) – CAMEROON authorities have been urged to restore internet connection to protesting English-speaking regions of the north-west and south-west. They are involved in demonstrations against alleged marginalization by the government. Authorities have since January disconnected internet services as protesters have lobbied through information and communication technollogoes and social media. “This is a deplorable situation,” said special representative of the United Nations secretary-general for Central Africa, François Louncény Fall. English speakers have long reported that they face discrimination and marginalization, and are excluded from top civil service positions and public services.
