Our brain is scanning all the ‘what if scenarios’ on repeat and the body prepares itself for the perceived danger. The reason for that is simple: when the body undergoes stress on a daily basis, its stress response becomes maladaptive. This way the stress response becomes maladaptive, causing a plethora of negative physiological effects on the body which lead to illnesses. A scientifically proven technique which is found to counteract stress and has altered structural changes in the brain is meditation. They found that meditation has made significant changes in the areas of the brain associated with stress, emotion and memory.
