The High Court bench of Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order on Monday after hearing from Attorney General AM Amin Uddin on the matter. The attorney general informed the court that he spoke with the DSCC mayor and confirmed that it has no plans to relocate stray dogs for now. The plea sought a rule from the High Court asking the government and the Dhaka South City Corporation why the initiative should not be declared illegal. However, from the last week of August, DSCC authorities began relocating 30,000 stray dogs from Dhaka. The DSCC said that the decision to relocate stray dogs came following complaints of untoward incidents.
