NetflixStranger Things season 2 is out this Halloween weekend, as I imagine it will be every Halloween weekend for the next few years, if it continues to be a monster hit (no pun intended) for Netflix. I didn’t know if Stranger Things would be able to pull off the same trick twice, but season 2 is fantastic, and reminds me why everyone seems to love this show so much. The entire structure of the season, the government racing to hunt down Eleven as the boys protect her, was immediately reminiscent of E.T. Overall, despite these references, Stranger Things does seem to be leaning less heavily on existing properties in season 2 than it did in season 1 which was almost literally a remake of E.T. I’ll have more thoughts on Stranger Things season 2 to come, but for now, it’s doing ‘80s nostalgia the right way, and I definitely recommend you check it out.
