Manchester United did not know Marcos Rojo was being investigated by police when they signed him, it has emerged. Before moving to England, the defender was under investigation for an alleged bottle attack on one of his neighbours and a second man in Argentina. And The Athletic say United were only made aware of the criminal investigation when a member of staff typed Rojo’s name into Google, after the club had already signed him. Louis van Gaal signed Rojo from Sporting Lisbon on a five year deal in 2014 for £16million but the 29-year-old was facing the possibility of time in prison if he was convicted.
