A man was rescued after becoming stranded on a cliff in the Catlins this afternoon. Fire and Emergency New Zealand said it was called to the incident at Cannibal Bay about 4pm. Three appliances from Balclutha, Owaka and Kaka Point attended, but were unable to get to the man. It flew a rescue helicopter from Dunedin to extract the man off the cliff, who was rescued, uninjured just before 6pm.
