A large humpback whale stranded at Glinks Gully in Northland has died. A "fairly large" humpback whale has died after becoming stranded off Glinks Gully beach in Northland. Email us at aucklandnewsroom@stuff.co.nzDepartment of Conservation spokeswoman Abi Monteith confirmed the 10-metre long whale, which stranded between Glinks Gully and the Mahuta Gap, had died about 9.30am on Tuesday. Resident Tom Anderson went to help with the stranding but the whale died before he arrived. Glinks Gully is approximately 20 minutes from Dargaville, on Northland's west coast.
