Firefighters were called to a Primus stove fire in Dunedin today. A Fire service spokesman said a crew from Willowbank Station were called to a house in Maybank St in Northeast Valley about 9.50am. Due to a scheduled power cut, a person was cooking a meal outside the house with a Primus stove . When the stove began "flaring'' and caught fire they called the Fire Service. The Primus stove, the first pressurised-burner kerosene stove, was developed in Sweden in 1892.
