Storms look set to dump down on Kiwis this weekend, with almost every part of the country seeing heavy rain at some point. A main feature coming up the South Island will bring heavy rainfall to Southland and Westland and spillover rain to Canterbury and the Otago headwaters. That storm will slowly drift northwards overnight and onto the lower North Island on Saturday morning, Metservice meteorologist William Nepe said. The city will likely see rain on Saturday evening, which will increase in intensity on Sunday morning. Of the three main centres, Christchurch looks to have the best weekend weather, with cloudy conditions and patchy light rainfall on Saturday and Sunday.
