Areas of Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire have been hardest hit by the storm, with flooding and gale-force winds leaving grassroots sports facilities counting the cost. Northern Premier League South East Division side Wisbech Town were one of the clubs badly affected, seeing their goalposts and a stand damaged by the storm. Nigel Harrison, chief executive at Yorkshire Sport, said: "Yorkshire Sport Foundation is working with local authorities, national governing bodies of sport and other partner organisations in West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire to compile details of the facilities affected by the floods. We welcome Sport England's early intervention, and we look forward to working with them to help get the affected clubs and facilities up and running again as soon as possible."
