A winter storm dumped up to 12 to 18 inches across much of upstate New York and Vermont by Sunday morning, after barreling through the Midwest and causing chaos for travelers. Similar amounts of snow are expected in northern New Hampshire and northern Maine. Farther south, snow turned to sleet and freezing rain in sections of Pennsylvania, New York state and southern New England.
