PETALING JAYA: Proponents of the proposed amendments to the Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 should stop justifying the move by citing sources from the past, said former law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim (pic). In a series of tweets on Saturday, Zaid said the morality and values of the past were not necessarily relevant today. "Morality and values of the bedouins are not necessarily Islamic and therefore just and useful in present day context. "Has Kelantan asked Federal Government for the increase in Act 355?" No state government asked for it," said Zaid.
