Goenka said he has been paying off dues for the rest of the Duncans gardens, seven of which are located in the Dooars and two in Darjeeling. Initially, the Centre tapped public sector Andrew Yule, which also owns gardens in Bengal and Assam, to take over the Duncans' gardens. Advocate Tilak Bose appeared on behalf of the Tea Board, while barrister Anindya Mitra represented Duncans. Workers' plight Workers of the seven gardens, with a combined production capacity of 10 million kg per annum, were not paid after the Centre took over the gardens in January. The Tea Board tried to look for buyers but repeated attempts did not yield any result.
