The 33-year-old Steyn, who has taken more than 400 test wickets, had surgery in Cape Town and will need at least six months of rehabilitation before starting to bowl again. Steyn felt his shoulder go during the test match in Perth telling Channel Nine: "I felt this pop or like a thud in my shoulder. South Africa begin their tour of New Zealand in mid-February with a T20 game, and play five one-dayers and three test matches.
