Steps on to capture tusker

more-inForest officials have intensified steps to capture the straying tusker that was creating panic among villagers in Vadakkanad region under the Wayanad wildlife sanctuary for the past many months. The Chief Wildlife Warden had issued an order on May 30 to translocate the animal after tranquilising it. Anjan Kumar, Conservator of Forest (Wildlife, Palakkad), told The Hindu. Though a special task force had been constituted to capture the pachyderm, it was moved to adjacent Bandipur Tiger Reserve (BTR) a few days ago, Mr. Arjan Kumar, who is also the chairman of an expert committee formed to capture the tusker, said. “As Bandipur and Mudumalai tiger reserves are contiguous to the sanctuary, to and fro movements of wildlife are so common.
