With hardly nine days left for the culmination of this year’s 41-day Mandalam pilgrim season, Sabarimala has started witnessing a consistent inflow of pilgrims. The digital headcount taken by the police at the entry point to the Sabarimala trekking path showed a marked rise in the number of pilgrims since Friday. However, the district administration continues to extend the prohibitory orders clamped on Elavumkal, Nilackal, Pampa and Sabarimala. InterventionThe committee could intervene and resolve various issues facing the pilgrims at Sabarimala and its base camps. The prohibitory orders too permitted pilgrims to visit Sabarimala in groups and chant ‘sarana-ghoshom’.
