AS people prepare to visit family for the Christmas period, a rural insurer is urging them to pay attention to safety and security to avoid unwelcome accidents over the holidays. With millions of people expected to be on the move over the Christmas period, leading rural insurer NFU Mutual is making a plea for people to secure their homes and not take risks while driving. “When driving over Christmas, don’t rush and make sure you pay attention to the road, particularly on dangerous rural roads. Rural roads already see 72 per cent more fatalities than urban roads, and sadly the increased traffic and wet and windy weather will only make them more treacherous over Christmas.
