Local authorities issued a 'stay indoors' warning to nearby residents in the communes of Saint-Fons, Feyzin, Pierre-Bénite and Vénissieux, and confirmed that the explosion at the factory was followed by a fire. The fire was brought under control by 5pm, and the stay indoors warning was lifted a couple of hours later.
