This has been revealed in the new approved measures on import duty rates for goods entering the East African Community (EAC) region. For lovers of Italian shoes, the government will collect 25 per cent duty on imported leather wear or $2.5 (Sh270) per pair, whichever is higher. New clothes will be imported at a higher duty of 35 per cent from 25 per cent. Chewing gum, sweets, butters and other fats will be imported at a rate of 30 per cent from 25 per cent.
