They plan to set up “virtual police stations or e-policing kiosks” at railway stations, airports, bus terminals, parks, public places, tourist spots, weekend destinations, and festival areas across the State. Citizens, chiefly women, are often loath to call on police stations, given their bleak public image, long waits and slow legal procedures. The police booths will have a distinctive design with easy-to-use and self-explanatory Internet-linked touchscreen computers for the public to register complaints with little bother. ReceiptFrom the State Police Chief to the local station house officer, citizens could choose the officer they want to address directly. State Police Chief Loknath Behera and Inspector General of Police Manoj Abraham are supervising the project.
