Kenya boasts of companies such as Mumias Sugar, which has been dogged by embezzlement of funds, thus making sugar expensive for the ordinary citizen. Researchers say the current rains might mitigate the high food prices. This is because the rains are expected to increase maize, rice and sugarcane supplies and that will likely result in reduction in the food prices. Apart from that, boarding schools will definitely hike their fees due to high food prices, thus locking out most needy students who are thirsty to scale up the ladder of education.
