State must stabilise food prices to save the poor

We can be sure that food prices will not drop any time soon as that has been the custom where prices of basic commodities rise mysteriously but take centuries to drop by a single cent. Kenya boasts of companies such as Mumias Sugar, which has been dogged by embezzlement of funds, thus making sugar expensive for the ordinary citizen. Researchers say the current rains might mitigate the high food prices. This is because the rains are expected to increase maize, rice and sugarcane supplies and that will likely result in reduction in the food prices. Apart from that, boarding schools will definitely hike their fees due to high food prices, thus locking out most needy students who are thirsty to scale up the ladder of education.
