State gets more time to publish gazette on judges’ conduct rules

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has granted the state more time for finalising the service rules and conduct for lower court judges and publishing a gazette notification on it. Earlier on July 2, the apex court had granted the state two weeks’ time for finalising the service rules and conduct and publishing a gazette notification in this connection. “Conduct rules for the lower court judges’ would leave an impact on the discipline of the judiciary. We are now scrutinising all the relevant issues regarding the rules so that it cannot be questioned once the gazette notification is published. After the meeting, the law minister told reporters that the gazette notification on the service rules and conduct for lower court judges’ will be finalised by July 20 and he hoped that the apex court will not hear the matter on Monday.
