The government on Tuesday banned Cord's planned weekly protests pressing for electoral commission to leave office. "To avert further violence and loss of property in the country, we have been banned the ongoing weekly protests. The order was issued by Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery despite the High Court allowing the Opposition to hold peaceful countrywide demonstrations. The constitution allows for peaceful demonstrations but what we have seen for the past two weeks are not what one can refer to as peaceful," Nkaissery added. "These are no longer peaceful demonstrations.
