State agency starts vetting civilian gun ownersThe Firearms Licensing Board has explained the vetting process that civilian gun owners will undergo starting today. Chairman Charles Mukindia said the process was mandatory and those targeted in Nairobi region would appear before a team at the Police Pavilion in South C from today to Thursday. SEE ALSO :CS Matiang’i appoints new Firearms Licensing Board membersUpon verification, the certificate holders shall go to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) headquarters for ballistic analysis. Exempted from the vetting and not required to book are serving and retired personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, National Intelligence Service, Kenya Forest Service and the security sector. “However, they will be required to fill in a form and obtain a unique identification number from the vetting venue and then go to DCI for ballistic tests,” he added.
