A truck rolled and was spilling diesel on State Highway 1 on the southern outskirts of Hamilton, between Newell Rd and Riverlea Rd, on Tuesday evening. The northbound lane of State Highway 1 in Hamilton has been blocked between Newell Rd and Riverlea Rd, after a truck rolled. Police were alerted just after 6pm on Tuesday that the truck, understood to be a mini-tanker, had rolled and was spilling diesel. Fire and Emergency New Zealand crews and police attended, and the tanker was removed by a tow truck shortly before 8pm. A Waikato Regional Council hazardous chemical team remained on the scene to clean up the spilt diesel.
