(File photo)A section of the main highway between Christchurch and Picton has been closed after rocks fell onto the road, damaging a car. Poor weather conditions are to blame for the rockfall that occurred on State Highway 1 (SH1), south of Kaikōura, on Saturday morning and again at 1pm. NZTA will reconsider opening the state highway at 9am on Sunday. The Arthur's Pass to Springlands route and Lewis Pass were closed, and motorists were trapped by weather conditions on Friday night.
