The Dublin-based company which enables local shops list their products online via a physical plug-in device has secured funding from venture capital firms Frontline Ventures, Vulcan Capital and Draper Associates in a Series A funding round. Pointy’s device connects to a shop’s barcode scanner and automatically puts scanned items on a website which allows customers to search for and find products locally. Mark Cummins, the company chief executive and co-founder, said Pointy provided a simple solution for small, local retailers that were struggling to keep pace with the demands of e-commerce. “For many local retailers, keeping up with technology can feel like too much.
