Keir Starmer has suspended seven MPs for voting for an SNP amendment to his King’s Speech calling for the ending of the cruel ‘two-child benefit cap’. Apsana Begum, Richard Burgon, Ian Byrne, Imran Hussain, Rebecca Long Bailey, John McDonnell and Zarah Sultana are now sitting as independent MPs for wanting an end to needless child poverty. The now-independent MPs should immediately form a caucus with the independent MPs who ousted Starmer’s drones earlier this month and reach a cooperation agreement with the new Green MPs – after the past four and a half years without one, the UK needs an actual opposition.
