’Tana AiyejinaStarTimes has secured the rights to broadcast the Spanish LaLiga and the UEFA Nations League, the Digital TV operator announced on Friday. The announcement confirms The PUNCH’s story of July 14, 2020, which first reported that the Pay TV company had secured LaLiga broadcast rights from next season. In a statement titled, ‘StarTimes secures broadcasting rights for LaLiga Santander, UEFA Nations League,’ the company said, “StarTimes secured four-season transmission rights for the Spanish top league, which will be broadcast in French language, from 2020/21 to 2024 season across sub-Saharan Africa.”The broadcast rights deal begins in September, the statement added. “We are delighted to have secured the broadcast rights to LaLiga Santander, one of the most prestigious football competitions in the world,” Kristen Miao, StarTimes Sports Director, said. The 2020/21 UEFA Nations League group stage matches will be played between September and November.
