CALGARY — Should the Calgary Stampede’s chuckwagon races be banned? The Banff resident has attended both the chuckwagon races and rodeo for roughly 45 years. Phil Fulton, the society’s community outreach manager, said they’re opposed to chuckwagon racing and rodeo. Monday saw a horse collapse and die during the chuckwagon race’s second heat due to an “internal medical condition,” according to a Stampede news release. To her, animal deaths in chuckwagon races are simply inevitable.
