The fire service were called to the blaze on land on Brushes Road, Millbrook near Stalybridge at around 9.05pm this evening. Writing on Twitter , the fire service said: "Thank you to everyone who has called us about a fire up on the moors near Stalybridge. The windy conditions in the area this evening are reportedly making it more difficult to contain the blaze. A record number of fires swept across the UK last summer when temperatures soared - with a number in the Greater Manchester area, including a huge blaze on nearby Saddleworth Moor. There was also a huge blaze in a mill close to Strangeways prison in Manchester city centre.
