St. Louis Cardinals shut out in Rally Cat fight

On Aug. 9, a 4-month-old tabby cat ran across the field at Busch Stadium during a baseball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals in St. Louis. The St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach captured it the next day. The nonprofit has balked at letting the Cardinals adopt "Rally Cat," saying the team wanted to exploit the cat rather than take care of it. The next day, St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach announced to a fretful nation that Rally Cat had been found not far from where he had escaped, and since then the group has nursed Rally Cat to full health while bickering with the Cardinals over his ownership. Rally Cat Appreciation Day will be held as planned Sept. 10, with fans getting a Rally Cat T-shirt and proceeds going to Tony LaRussa’s Animal Rescue Foundation and St. Louis Feral Cat Outreach.
