St Kent's escapes prosecution after students' throats cut during Sweeney Todd stage play

Auckland school Saint Kentigern has escaped prosecution after two students' throats were cut with a razor blade during a performance of Sweeney Todd. "During the production, there was a scene in which two characters were being shaved, followed by a simulation of these characters having their throats cut," the WorkSafe report found. The WorkSafe report said St Kent's trust board proposed the enforceable undertaking as an alternative to prosecution. Tonight the school board apologised and admitted the students suffered life-threatening injuries. "It's normal for Sweeney Todd to have such an instrument [and it] clearly had been checked many, many times.
