PHOTO: CHRISTINE O’CONNORThe peanut-shaped roundabout in St Clair is here, after a year in the making. The road, at the intersection of Forbury, Bay View and Allandale Rds, was not scheduled to reopen until tomorrow, but vehicles were navigating the legume-shaped junction yesterday. The new completion date of June this year was then pushed back when that work to replace ageing water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure took longer than expected. The roundabout was planned after 11 crashes at the intersection from 2011 to 2015. The new alignment is expected to be safer for motorists and pedestrians.
