BOB Gawthorpe, a legend in the Sages and midlands golfing circles, came to stay and play at St Cathryn’s over the weekend. For the past two weeks, the most important piece of machinery at St Cathryn’s wasn’t the Greens mower, or Fairway mower or the tee box mower, but the generator — and it had a Par 4 on every “hole”, even once having a hole in one on stage one. This coming weekend, from March 29 to March 31, the Crusaders canoe club make their annual trek up to St Cathryn’s — their base camp where they stay — to take on the mighty Tugela River in their annual fun canoe “race” down the river on Saturday and Sunday. Reminder to all members and Tee 2 pin members that, on March 6 and March 7, the Tuta Carriers Club Championship will be played. The Tee 2 Pin division is open to all those members and homeowners will be contested this year between three homeowners.
