Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 figures saw another surge today (29), as 173 more persons were tested positive for the virus. The Government Information Department stated that all of the newly-identified patients are close contacts of earlier cases linked to the Peliyagoda fish market. Following the new development in Covid-19 figures, Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda dual cluster’s infections tally has reached 19,946. As per Epidemiology Unit data, the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country to date now stands at 23,484. Recoveries from the virus meanwhile climbed to 17,002 earlier today, as 346 more patients regained health.
