Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus says the South African rand is too weak to keep top players at home. South African rugby has scrapped its rule preventing overseas-based players with fewer than 30 test caps representing the Springboks. The new policy was announced by Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus in his capacity as SA Rugby's director of rugby. Erasmus also warned SA Rugby would rigidly enforce a World Rugby regulation requiring clubs to release players for international duty. The new policy opens the door to players such as Gloucester lock Franco Mostert (28 caps) to continue representing the Springboks.
