About 5.9 million are estimated to head off on a spring break. An estimated 5.94 million people will leave Hong Kong for the holiday break during the Lunar New Year. This represents 19 percent fewer people leaving the city from January 24 to 30, compared with last year. The Immigration Department estimates that about 74 percent, or 4.42 million passengers, will pass through land boundary control points. The number of outbound and inbound passengers using land boundary control points will be relatively higher on Sunday, January 26 and Tuesday January 28, with around 367,000 and 451,000 passengers respectively.
